AfricaSchlumberger Oilfield Services has launched an advanced stimulation vessel for deepwater service. In addition to expanding the fleet to meet operator needs worldwide, the new-generation Galaxie design integrates fit-for-purpose improvements in marine, mechanical, electronic and chemical engineering. The new vessel is bound for deepwater projects in West Africa, where operators are requiring more advanced stimulation alternatives. The Galaxie provides the ability to execute high-quality and large-capacity stimulation treatments including high-rate frac and packs, acidizing and gravel-packing services. The advanced stimulation systems built into the Galaxie are custom-designed specifically for the high-permeability sandstone and the carbonate formations found in the West Africa deepwater environment.
According to Zaki Selim, president, Well Services for Schlumberger Oilfield Services, "The deployment of the Galaxie demonstrates the Schlumberger commitment to provide best-in-class technology and services to our customers in West Africa. The vessel incorporates new deepwater stimulation designs and technology to deliver increased safety and efficiency, for both personnel and the environment."
