Solstad Building Two Anchor Handling Tugs
Solstad Offshore has entered into a contract with Karmsund Maritime Service AS for the building of two large anchor handling vessels (AHTS).
They will be developed in close cooperation between SOFF and Vik-Sandvik. The vessels will have 28,000 BHP, a bollard pull of 300 ton, accommodation to 60 people and are designed with special focus towards safe anchor handling. They will be equipped to also operate as service construction vessels (CSV) and are prepared for installation of A-Frame and a large offshore crane.
The vessels will be delivered in December 2008 and May 2009, and has a cost price of around NOK 500 million per vessel. SOFF has option for additional equipment.
SOFF is one of the largest operators within the deep water anchor handling segment and operates in areas as the North Sea, Brazil, West Africa and Malaysia.
