Baker Energy Wins North Slope Managed Services Contract
Baker Energy, a unit of Michael Baker Corporation, has received a five-year, multi-million-dollar contract from Brooks Range Petroleum Corporation (BRPC) to provide services for exploration and, when discoveries are made, to assist in the development of BRPC's Gwyder Bay, Ocean Point, Southland, Slugger, Itkillik River, Whiskey Gulch, and Titania prospects on the North Slope of Alaska. BRPC is a subsidiary of the Alaska Venture Capital Group LLC (AVCG).
Under this contract, Baker Energy will be providing a broad range of managed services for BPRC in order to explore and, when successful, develop and operate new discoveries. These services include general management, infrastructure design, data management, capital work program implementation, supply chain management, operations and maintenance, and production reporting. Work on the contract began on June 1, 2006.
Baker's John Hickman, senior vice president of operations, said, "We are pleased that BRPC has recognized our ability and experience in developing oil and gas assets. This is Baker Energy's first contract on the North Slope of Alaska, but we are confident in meeting the challenges this region of Alaska presents. We hope to leverage this new presence with other operators."
BRPC's Bart Armfield, Vice President of Field Operations and a co-founder of AVCG, stated, "For a startup independent operator like Brooks Range Petroleum, it is cost effective and it makes technical sense to outsource key operational services to a world-class firm like Baker Energy who has a proven track record in field development and operations in challenging environments such as the Gulf of Mexico offshore and elsewhere. We are also very impressed with Baker Energy's record of accomplishments in safety and environmental protection which are critical success factors for any operator in Alaska."
Baker Energy works with oil and gas companies worldwide providing total operations and maintenance solutions. By integrating its diverse operating and management skills, Baker Energy has evolved into a single-source supplier of competency-based personnel recruiting and training, comprehensive operations and maintenance, and supply chain management services.
