Their largest contract to date, PSL will provide a range of testing services for all Subsea 7's UKCS projects, initially for a three year period but with a potential two year option.
Aberdeen-based PSL will spend an estimated £2 million (US$ 3.6 million) on new equipment in the next year to support the contract and 30 new pipeline division jobs will be created, which is part of an overall strategy to recruit an extra 200 staff across all disciplines over the next 12 months.
The workscope includes pigging, gauging, flooding, pressure testing, dewatering and umbilical testing in support of all Subsea 7 EPIC and IRM contracts in the UK.
PSL managing director, Doug Duguid, said the contract, which was won from the incumbent, was of strategic importance to PSL and the goal was to build a long-term relationship with Subsea 7.
Mr. Duguid said: "We first worked with Subsea 7 on the deepwater Chinguetti project in West Africa and this gave us the platform to show what we could do with a blend of new technology and a highly skilled workforce.
"I think factors in being awarded this latest contract were our track record for responsiveness and innovation and because of the level of investment we have made and will continue to make in terms of new people and equipment.
"The cultures of both companies are very well aligned in that we are both looking to build a long term relationship based on a new approach to doing things.
"We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to work with Subsea 7 and I believe this contract, which is our largest award so far, will play a key role in our strategic growth plans for our company."
Subsea 7's UK Vice President, Steve Wisely, said: "We selected PSL for this work after a rigorous tender process in which we looked at each tenderer's capacity, technical capability and culture.
"We felt that PSL's approach to delivering a focused service to each of their customers and their investment in both people and equipment was well aligned with Subsea 7's own values."
