In the same period, Pemex's offshore and northern regions also reported associated and unassociated natural gas production of 1.79Bf3/d and 2.19Bf3/d respectively.
From January-May this year, the company saw natural gas output jump 9.6% to 5.17Bf3/d from the same period of 2005. During the period Mexico produced an average of 3.05Bf3/d of associated natural gas and an average of 2.12Bf3/d of unassociated natural gas, up 3.9% and 19% respectively compared to the year-ago period.
Pemex's northern region continues to be the principal natural gas production area, the statement said.
In the first five months of this year, northern fields produced an average of 2.11Bf3/d of natural gas, while offshore fields saw average output at 1.72Bf3/d and southern fields produced 1.35Bf3/d.
