The work is underway in Frontera’s Taribani Field Unit, which is located within the onshore exploration and production license in eastern Georgia known as Block XII. It is SPD’s first contract in Georgia.
The work program includes the re-entry of existing wells, setting of whipstocks, and the drilling and completion of horizontal wells at depths ranging from 2,700 to 2,900 meters.
“SPD relishes the challenge of working in what is a new country for us," said Alistair Davidson, SPD's managing director. "Our extensive experience in working in remote environments with different cultures, in addition to our in-depth knowledge of horizontal drilling practices, was critical in SPD being awarded this work. I am confident that this is the start of a long and mutually fruitful relationship between SPD and Frontera.”
The Georgia contract is the latest in a series of projects and ongoing well engineering and project management support contracts won by SPD internationally since its establishment in Dubai in September 2002.
