Dr. Paton joined Dana's Executive Team in 2003, following a highly successful career with Shell Exploration and Production. Since 2003 he has led Dana's Business Development Team and been responsible for all commercial activities across the Dana Group's UK and international portfolios.
Dr. Paton is a graduate of Cambridge University, where he gained a First Class Honors Degree in Natural Sciences (specializing in Earth Sciences), followed by a PhD in Geology.
At Shell International, based in The Hague, he worked on the quantitative assessment of exploration and development opportunities for the Shell group, including a wide range of projects spanning Africa, the Middle East and South America. He then moved to Shell in the UK and held senior technical and commercial roles as well as being on the commercial leadership team of Shell UK E&P. Dr Paton was part of the executive group which developed the strategy for, and subsequently delivered, Shell's take-over of Enterprise Oil plc.
Following a very successful six years with Dana, Mr. Andrew Bostock will be leaving the Company's board next month due to a recent family decision to relocate back to the family home in South Wales. However, Mr. Bostock has quadrupled his shareholding in Dana over the last year and retains a major personal interest in the Group's future prospects. Therefore, even though Mr. Bostock will no longer be based in Scotland, where Dana is headquartered, he has indicated a strong interest in continuing to work for the Company on international projects that are already in progress to deliver further growth for the Dana Group.
Dana Group Chairman, Colin Goodall commented,
'I am delighted to welcome Stuart Paton into this important new board position at Dana. With his excellent track record of delivery since joining Dana's Executive Team three years ago, I know that Stuart will continue to add substantial value for shareholders in his expanded role.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Andy Bostock for his significant contribution to the Group. We have all enjoyed working with Andy and wish him and his family well in their forthcoming move back home to South Wales.'
