Work has already been in progress since July 2005 to develop integrity management plans and analytical models for the riser systems and flowlines. The project is being led from 2H's Houston office.
"We are particularly pleased to have won this work as the size and focus of this contact highlight the complexity and importance of these systems," said Ricky Thethi, 2H Offshore vice president. "The contract defines a new business area within the deepwater industry, one that we at 2H have been striving to establish with our riser monitoring and integrity assurance work for some time.
"Various studies related to deepwater riser integrity management are being carried out with in the industry, but in this case we are actually doing it. I am confident that 2H has the technology, the expertise and the experience to add value to the management of these complex systems."
2H has considerable experience working with BP, undertaking extensive design and assessment work for the company.
