Origin Energy Assumes Operatorship of WA226P Offshore Australia

Origin Energy has finalized its agreement with Dana Petroleum and Black Rock Petroleum, partners in offshore petroleum exploration permit WA226P to increase its interest to 57.5% by way of farm in. Origin Energy Developments Pty Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Origin Energy Limited, will assume operatorship of the permit.

WA226P is located in the northern offshore Perth Basin approximately 230km north west of Geraldton, Western Australia. An exploration well will be drilled in this permit on the Morangie prospect by November of this year. The prospectivity of this region has been upgraded by the recent oil discovery in the Cliff Head wells to the south. Only two exploration wells have been drilled in the permit to date, with Livet-1 encountering an interpreted residual oil column.

Partners in permit WA226P are Origin Energy Developments Pty Limited as operator with 57.5%; Dana Petroleum (E&P) Limited with 12.81375%; Dana Petroleum (WA) LLC with 12.66375%; Black Rock Petroleum NL with 7.5%; Voyager Energy Limited with 5.0%; Planet Resources Limited with 4.5225%.
