The $310,000 technical assistance grant from the kingdom's Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation will be used to analyze current shale oil extraction and recovery processes and technologies and to apply the best international expertise to the development of the shale oil industry in Jordan. The Jordanians believe that this will help spur economic growth in rural regions and create employment opportunities while reducing the country's dependence on imported oil.
In December 2005, America Asia Petroleum's president visited Jordan at the invitation of a Jordanian company. He met with both U.S. and Jordanian government officials to better determine Jordan's business atmosphere and potential.
America Asia Petroleum specializes in extracting crude oil from shale rock using its proprietary patented technology and has offices in U.S. and China. The company presently operates in China producing various petroleum products.
