Vetco Gray Expands in Aberdeen
Vetco Gray is undertaking a major expansion of office accommodation in Aberdeen as part of a growth strategy that also includes continuing recruitment of staff.
The oilfield services company, which has maintained office facilities for 34 years at Broadfold Road, Bridge of Don, relies on the Scottish city as the base for its Eastern Region operations and its global Subsea Production Systems business.
More than 120 support staff transferred earlier this week to the nearby Aberdeen Science and Energy Park, where Vetco Gray has taken a 10-year lease of 26,734 square feet of refurbished offices on four floors of Silverburn House. Offices vacated at Broadfold Road will provide expanded accommodation for engineering staff. Additional open storage for materials and equipment is being created.
In northeast Scotland, Vetco Gray employs 1,050 people at facilities at Bridge of Don and Altens, Aberdeen, and at Montrose. This figure reflects an increase of 125 over the past 12 months--including nearly 90 at Bridge of Don, where the company is recruiting 70 additional staff in all disciplines.
"The expansion reflects both the unparalleled demand for our products, based on customers’ confidence in our ability to deliver, and our belief in the future of the oil and gas industry," said David Lamont, president of Vetco Gray's Eastern Region and Subsea Production Systems business. "As we continue to grow, we will create job opportunities in Aberdeen and enhance the city’s reputation in serving international markets."
