Cano Petroleum Announces Fire-Related Litigation

Cano Petroleum and a subsidiary have been named as defendants in a lawsuit by a local land and mineral owner. The suit, filed in state court in Carson County, Texas, seeks damages and other relief relating to the recent grass fires in the Texas panhandle.

In a written response, Cano asserts that the suit is without merit and that it intends to vigorously defend itself.

Additionally, the Cano subsidiary intends to seek compensation for lost production, damages, and other costs from those who are determined to be at fault for the fires and the effects thereof.

Cano, which has operations in the Texas Panhandle, was forced to reduce its production when wildfires spread through the area earlier this month.
