PetroCom Inks Two-Year Contract with Cal Dive

PetroCom has signed an exclusive two-year agreement to provide very small aperture terminal (VSAT) voice and data communication services to Cal Dive International, Inc. As part of the deal, PetroCom will commission a state-of-the-art VSAT system and manage Cal Dive's rapidly changing communication needs across its fleet of 28 vessels.

Cal Dive is a leading marine contractor and operator of offshore oil and gas properties and production facilities worldwide with an emphasis on the Gulf of Mexico and North Sea basins.

Ken Wright, COO for PetroCom, said, "instead of introducing an off-the-shelf solution, we carefully specified and selected the best equipment and systems that allow customers unprecedented bandwidth management capabilities and committed information rates. Because of its diverse operations, Cal Dive had some challenging requirements. We are confident our latest VSAT solution will exceed their expectations."

Known for dependability, PetroCom is a full-service telecommunications and network solutions company serving the offshore business community for more than 20 years. In 2004, PetroCom became a communications pioneer by launching the first offshore wireless network based on GSM technology. The network covers more than 100,000 square miles in the Gulf of Mexico. Headquartered in New Orleans, PetroCom also has offices in Lafayette, LA, and Houston.

*Cal Dive International has recently announced that it is changing its name to Helix Energy Solutions Group. Beginning Monday, March 6, the Houston-based company will trade under the stock symbol HELX on the NASDAQ stock exchange
