KBR Awarded FEED Contract for Plutonio Field Offshore Angola
KBR has been awarded a contract to provide Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for BP Angola (Block 18) BV's Greater Plutonio Deep Water Development off Angola. The work, to be conducted out of KBR's Leatherhead office in the UK, includes further development of the engineering design and preparation of invitations to tender for the main execution contracts. The FEED work is expected to be completed by the end of 2002.
The Block 18 fields comprise Paladio, Plutonio, Platina, Galio, Cromio and Cobalto. Development planning began following completion of the appraisal drilling program in July 2001. The development concept is based on a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading vessel (FPSO).
"We are extremely pleased that BP Angola has selected KBR for this exciting project," said Randy Harl, president and CEO of KBR. "The contract highlights our industry-leading technical capability for deepwater developments." The project is KBR's second major FEED contract for a deepwater development in Angola in the last two years.
