Subsea 7 Wins Blind Faith Work from Chevron

Subsea 7 has been awarded a subsea installation contract with a value of approximately US $28 million from Chevron North America Exploration and Production Company, a Division of Chevron U.S.A. INC for work related to the Blind Faith Project in the eastern Gulf of Mexico.

The contract is for the installation of the Blind Faith in-field flowlines including the associated pipeline end terminations (PLETs) and pre-layed steel catenary risers (SCRs).

The Blind Faith development consists of a Production Drill Centre located in Mississippi Canyon, Block 696 in approximately 6,950ft water depth tied back via two insulated flowlines to a semi-submersible host facility located in Mississippi Canyon Block 650. Chevron's partner in the Blind Faith project is Kerr-McGee Corp., which holds a 37.5 percent interest. The offshore campaign is scheduled for mid to late 2007 utilizing Subsea 7's new build rigid lay vessel which is currently under construction at a shipyard in the Netherlands.

Subsea 7's vice president Gulf of Mexico, Craig Broussard commented, "We are pleased to be selected by Chevron for this project further enhancing Subsea 7's reputation as a full service deepwater contractor. This challenging project is the first award for the new build vessel and highlights the way forward for the ambitions of Subsea 7. In addition, the provision of the new vessel for the second half of 2007 reinforces Subsea 7's commitment to providing state of the art assets for our deepwater clients in the Gulf of Mexico".
