Tullow's Exploration Director Steps Down
Adrian was appointed as Exploration Director and to the Board in September 2004 following the acquisition of Energy Africa. During his career, spanning over 30 years in the E&P business, Adrian has held a number of senior management positions including General Manager of Gencor's Oil and Gas Division, General Manager of Engen's Exploration Division and, from 1996 to 2004, Technical Director of Energy Africa.
While with Energy Africa, Adrian built a very strong technical team and developed an extensive portfolio of exploration and development assets. These included some of the most prominent exploration discoveries and development projects in Africa, most notably the Ceiba field in Equatorial Guinea and the M'Boundi field in Congo (Brazzaville); today these fields represent 19% of Tullow's worldwide reserves.
Since joining Tullow, Adrian has been instrumental in integrating and expanding the Group's exploration portfolio across all three core areas and has overseen a successful exploration program, both in established hydrocarbon basins and in high impact frontier areas.
Angus McCoss has been appointed to the new role of General Manager Exploration and will join the Group at the end of April. In this role, Angus will be responsible for the implementation of Tullow's exploration programs, the continued growth and renewal of the Group's acreage portfolio and the ongoing development of Tullow's worldwide technical team.
Angus has 19 years of wide-ranging exploration experience, working with Shell in Africa, Europe, South America and the Middle East. Angus has held a number of senior positions within Shell, most recently as the General Manager of Exploration in Nigeria, where he has been responsible for Shell's onshore, shelf and deep-water exploration throughout the country.
Angus has a First Class Honors degree in Geology from the University of Dundee and a BP sponsored PhD in Structural Geology from the University of Belfast.
Commenting today, Aidan Heavey, Chief Executive of Tullow said:
"Adrian has had a highly successful career in the E&P business and Tullow has been fortunate to benefit from his extensive knowledge and technical leadership. It has been a great pleasure to work with Adrian and I would like to thank him personally for his contribution to Tullow's exploration success and for his efforts to ensure a seamless integration of the Energy Africa exploration portfolio. We wish him well in the future.
I am delighted to welcome Angus McCoss as the Group's head of exploration at an exciting time in Tullow's development. Angus brings a wealth of international exploration experience to the Group and we look forward to working with him as Tullow continues to grow."
