Santos Looks at Options for Norfolk Well

Santos Ltd is looking at potential development scenarios for its Norfolk-1 well offshore Western Australia. The Norfolk-1 well discovered a 20-meter net oil column after reaching a total depth of 3,274 meters. Drilling of a second sidetrack well to test the size of the Norfolk reservoir is underway and is expected to be completed over Easter. This well is near the Pitcairn and Mutineer sub-commercial discoveries made in the late 1990s. Santos will examine the possibility of tying the three wells together.

Drilling on the Exeter will is expected to begin sometime after Easter and an appraisal well will be completed in the northern part of the Mutineer prospect.

Partners in permit area WA-191-P are Santos with 33.4%; ExxonMobil with 33.4%; Nippon Oil with 25% and Woodside with the remaining 8.2%.
