The scope of the contract includes chemical management of CNR's core North Sea assets, which encompasses the supply and related services for a full range of speciality and commodity chemicals including scale inhibitors, corrosion inhibitors, H2S scavengers and scale squeeze technologies.
"I am thrilled that Champion Technologies has secured this major contract from CNR," said Noel Brissard, UK Business Development Manager for Champion Technologies. "CNR has been a long-term strategic target for the company and a win of this magnitude further establishes Champion Technologies as a leading supplier of oilfield chemicals and associated services to the North Sea.
"Our success is not only due to an excellent tender response, but also due to the focus and dedication of the Aberdeen team in building a relationship with CNR and delivering a high level of service to our existing customer base while demonstrating our ability to add value to client's assets. We will deliver production chemical technology, services and solutions that improve the performance of CNR's assets by reducing their costs, minimising downtime and increasing production."
The contract was effective from February 1, 2006 and represents one of Champion Technologies' largest contract wins to date. A core team from the firm with extensive experience in the provision of production chemicals to offshore assets will be dedicated to servicing the CNR contract. The company will also draw upon its global and technical resources to deliver and add value to the account.
To compliment the CNR contract win Champion Technologies will expand their resources both in terms of manpower and facilities as Alan MacLean, Champion Technologies' UK District Manager, explains: "In 1997 we had around 40 employees – we now boast 90 members of staff and will be looking to recruit further. Our growth has been carefully aligned with our business development plans. As CNR was a long-term strategic target for the company, we were confident of our ability to hit the ground running, whilst ensuring that our service to existing clients was not affected. Our overall success to date has been based on delivering a first class service to our customers – we will not allow this to slip."
Champion Technologies' plan to continue their growth in the North Sea market. "We have invested over £5m in the last three years in developing our facilities at the Altens Industrial Estate in Aberdeen culminating in a £3m investment in new office premises that will complement our existing blending plant and technical support facilities at Altens," added Mr. Brissard. "The consolidated, integrated new premises will enhance the local organisation's performance and assist us in meeting growth targets as defined in our business development plans."
The new premises, boasting 14,000 sq feet, will be operational from the middle of February. The firm owns the new premises and the existing blending and laboratory facilities outright. "These are very exciting times for Champion Technologies," added Mr. Brissard. "With a major new contract sealed with CNR, integrated new premises on the horizon and an exceptional team on board we look forward to continuing to deliver a first rate service to our clients. People are our most important asset at Champion Technologies - and I have no doubts that both the team and the company will continue to grow successfully. I am confident too that we will cement our position as a leading provider of specialty oilfield chemicals in the North Sea market."
