Keppel FELS Delivers ENSCO 107 Ahead of Schedule
Keppel FELS has delivered ENSCO 107, a KFELS B Class designed jackup drilling rig to ENSCO International one month ahead of contractual schedule and within budget.
Guest-of-Honor, Mr. S. Dhanabalan, Chairman of Temasek Holdings Pte Limited and Mr. Lim Chee Onn, Executive Chairman of Keppel Corporation Limited, were present to witness the christening ceremony.
Officiating at the ceremony, Mr S. Dhanabalan said, “I understand some 40% of the world’s jackup drilling rigs on order are being built on this KFELS B Class design.
“The success of KFELS B Class jackups illustrates the importance of creating, in today’s highly competitive environment, innovative business models like Keppel’s special partnership with ENSCO.
“Singapore companies will have to look at how we can similarly use more innovative business methods and models to remain successful, stay ahead of the competition, and build enduring businesses.”
The christening ceremony came one day after Keppel FELS and ENSCO inked a new contract for the construction of a US$338 million semisubmersible.
The Lady Sponsor for ENSCO 107 was Mrs. Mieke Koenders, wife of Mr. Eisso Koenders, Vice President of ENSCO Offshore International and Unit Manager for the Asia Pacific region.
The ENSCO 107 is the eighth jackup rig that the Keppel Offshore & Marine group has completed for ENSCO since 1999. It has achieved a clean safety record of zero loss time for its 2,500,000 manhours of work.
Currently, work in progress for the same owner includes the newbuilding of a KFELS jackup rig, ENSCO 108, and a cost efficient ultra-deepwater semisubmersible, ENSCO 8500. Deliveries for the newbuilds are expected in first quarter 2007 and 2008 respectively.
