The Shearwater natural gas field located in the UK sector of the North Sea is still offline after it was shutdown Tuesday for routine inspection. A spokesman for Shell said. "It definitely isn't back up," but he was unable to say when the field would come back onstream. The field had been expected to be brought back onstream overnight Wednesday, after it was shutdown Tuesday for engineers to carry out routine, precautionary pipeline checks. But tests were still being carried out on the field Thursday morning, the spokesman said. A Shell spokeswoman Wednesday stressed there was no danger presented by the pipelines, and that no staff at the field were removed. The platform was last shut down for a small leak in a condensate pipeline last December. The leak was repaired by mid-February 2002.
