The Chiles Offshore new-build jackup, Chiles Discovery was christened at the Keppel FELS shipyard in Singapore this past weekend. The rig is a KFELS Mod V B Class cantilever jackup capable of working in water depths of 375 feet and has a cantilever reach of 70 feet. The leg length on the rig can also be extended to allow the rig to work in water depths of up to 390 feet.
The rig's first assignment will be for Phillips Petroleum at the Bayu-Undan field in the Timor Sea. The rig is expected to leave the shipyard around April 10th to head to the Timor Sea.
