Eni Completes Drilling Operations in PL 256
Norwegian Petroleum Directorate
Eni Norge, operator of production license 256, blocks 6406/1 and 6506/10, has concluded drilling of appraisal well 6406/1-4, located to the west of the Kristin field.
The well was drilled to a total depth of 4574 m below the sea surface, and it was concluded in rocks from the Triassic Age.
No mobile hydrocarbons were proven in the well.
The drilling activity took place in rocks under high temperature and pressure. The operation was carried out by the Ocean Vanguard in water depths of 361 meters.
Production license 256 was awarded in the 16th licensing round.
Licensees in the production license are Eni Norge as operator with 55%; Petoro with 20%; RWE Dea with 15%; Dong with 10%
The Ocean Vanguard will now move to a new location in the Sleipner area in the North Sea to drill wildcat well 15/9-22 for ExxonMobil in production license 241.
