This move follows Salamis' acquisition from MB Inspection Ltd, for an undisclosed sum, of the personnel and equipment associated with the SORT 4 joint venture, established in 2003 to support the Sigma 3 joint venture servicing Shell's Central & Northern North Sea assets.
As a result of this development 75 former MB integrity engineering personnel and inspection technicians have transferred to Salamis, working both offshore and in the Aberdeen offices of both Salamis and Shell.
As part of SORT4, where Salamis continues to provide existing fabric maintenance services, the inspection department will now provide services to 10 of Shell's North Sea platforms.
Garry Cruickshank, Inspection Manager at Salamis, said: "The development of our own Inspection capability sets the scene for an ambitious growth strategy, where through the Salamis Specialist Services department opportunities exist to provide conventional and specialist inspection services to both current and potentially new clients either independently or as part of a range of integrated services.
"The Inspection personnel both on shore and offshore consist of individuals who have particular technical skills, experience and knowledge which together will contribute significantly to the future success of the department."
