APL Celebrates Milestone

APL recently celebrated an anniversary when their turret systems exceeded more than 100 years at sea. All APL systems in operation have performed excellently and by mid November 2005, more than 3300 shuttle loads representing close to 2 billion barrels of oil have been exported through the APL systems.

During these hundred years of operation, the systems have proven their uniqueness in harsh weather conditions worldwide.

The Heidrun field, off the Norwegian coast, experienced a storm with reported maximum wave heights over 25m and significant wave height over 16m. Loading was not interrupted. On August 2005, the first offshore LNG port, the Gulf Gateway Energy Bridge™ deepwater port came through Hurricane Katrina without any effect on operations.
