Perenco Hits Offshore Gabon

Perenco announces a new oil discovery named Ompoyi, offshore Gabon in approximately 69 feet of water. The discovery well, GSA-1, tested at a maximum rate of 6300 bbls/day of dry oil from a gross hydrocarbon column of 110 meters occurring at a depth of 910-1020 meters in the Ozouri formation. The well was drilled to a TD of 1084 meters by GlobalSantaFe's jackup, Glomar High Island V and tested within 13 days.

The well data and 3D seismic indicate an accumulation of oil in place in the order of 85 mmbo. No water /hydrocarbon contact was identified in the well. Further appraisal drilling involving potentially 3 wells is planned this year to confirm the full height of the oil column and the northerly extent of the accumulation. The discovery is located approximately 5 miles from existing Perenco production and export facilities at the Gombe field and thus can be rapidly brought into production.
