North Sea Platform Evacuated in Gas Leak Scare
Nearly 140 oil workers have been airlifted from an offshore platform in the UK sector of the North Sea following a suspected gas leak.
The 138 employees were evacuated from the Scott platform, 117 miles north east of Aberdeen after gas was detected on the rig.
A spokesman for operators Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd, said there were no injuries and there had been no fire or explosion as a result of the incident.
