Hurricane Katrina has forced the precautionary evacaution of 21 oil and natural-gas platforms and rigs in the Gulf of Mexico, according to the U.S. Minerals and Management Service Friday afternoon. So far, no oil or natural-gas production has been shut in, the MMS said. The region currently produces 1.5 million barrels of oil per day and 10 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day, it said.
