Detailed design and tendering for the onshore gas production facility is also underway with selected international companies, Origin said in its second quarter report.
Award of tenders for the project is scheduled for the December 2005 quarter.
The current project schedule targets all project approvals to be received by the first quarter of 2006.
Origin said tight petroleum and resource industry conditions internationally have the potential to impact the project development schedule. The joint venture is investigating strategies to mitigate any potential impact that the current high level of petroleum construction activity, or regulatory appeals, may have on first gas deliveries.
The regulatory approval process is proceeding to schedule.
In April, Origin announced a 16.5% upgrade of the Kupe field reserves within the central field area, from 338 PJe (petajoules equivalent) to 394 PJe of total 2P reserves (gas and condensate).
The company said the joint venture expected to make a final investment decision in the fourth quarter of 2005, with a first gas target of late 2007.
