Western Exploration Awarded West Coast Permit in New Zealand

A 243 sq km exploration permit near Murchison on the onshore West Coast Basin of the South Island has been awarded to Wellington-based explorer Western Exploration Ltd.

The work program for PEP 38522 includes a re-entry of the Blackwater-1 well where oil shows were discovered in 1968.

Director of Western Exploration is Dr. Murry Cave who has been involved in earlier exploration on the West Coast.
