KCA Awards Scholarships to Azeri State Oil Academy Students
KCA DEUTAG has awarded six KCA DEUTAG Scholarships to students from the Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in Baku. The scholarships were awarded at an annual KCA DEUTAG reception during the Caspian Oil & Gas Show currently taking place in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The 2005/2006 KCA DEUTAG scholars are Samir Gozalov and Dmitriy Romanov (Drilling Engineering), Elmar Iskenderov and Elnar Eyyubzadeh (Mechanical Engineering Faculty), and Fuad Aghayev and Ruslan Ibadov (Electrical Engineering).
Neil McCleary, Operations PUL, BP Azerbaijan, presented the scholarship awards, with Brian Taylor, KCA DEUTAG Director UK, Norway, Caspian and Sakhalin. The event was attended by representatives from BP, the British Government, the Azerbaijani Government, the Azerbaijani State Oil Academy, SOCAR and other organizations.
Speaking at the awards ceremony Brian Taylor said: "KCA DEUTAG is currently recruiting a large number of Azerbaijani nationals and the Scholarship Program is the company's foundation stone for recruiting and training high quality, motivated graduates who will in time assume senior positions in Azerbaijan within our engineering and operations groups.
"This is the eighth award of the annual KCA DEUTAG Scholarship Program, which includes a monthly allowance to assist the students to complete their studies and the provision of British Council English language training.
"KCA DEUTAG currently employs over 280 Azerbaijani staff and this number will rise to 350 by 2008. In addition to this scholarship program we also run major training and development programs for Azerbaijani staff in Aberdeen and Baku."
Three of the 2004/2005 KCA DEUTAG Scholarship students have recently
returned from a trip to Aberdeen where they visited KCA DEUTAG facilities,
several oilfield manufacturers and service companies and obtained the
necessary information to assist them in completing their degree theses.
