Craig International Supplies Wins Major Shell Contract

The Craig Group is celebrating a major achievement for one of its divisions. Craig International Supplies (CIS) has been awarded one of the biggest procurement contracts in the North Sea.

The oilfield supplies house has won a contract to supply general oilfield consumables to all Shell's installations in the Northern and Southern North Sea as well as St Fergus, Mosmorran and Bacton.

The contract, described as a "Trading House Agreement", is worth between 2 million and 3 million per annum and is for five years with 2 one-year options.

"Potentially this contract could be valued at 20 million which is a very significant win for CIS and will significantly improve our purchasing power," says David Allan, managing director. "We are delighted that Shell has the confidence in our abilities to source goods at the best possible prices and supply them quickly and efficiently. As with all our clients, we will be continually striving to deliver the highest quality, safest and best value for money service. We would hope that demonstrating our capabilities on this contract may lead to further work with the super major, particularly internationally where we have a proven track record and excellent reputation in places such as West Africa, Kazakhstan and more recently the US."

CIS recently reported the opening of an office in Houston, near to the airport and adjacent to leading international freight-forwarders, Panalpina. The current weak dollar will enable CIS to source and buy products at more competitive prices to supply to clients' both in the Gulf of Mexico and around the world and the ideal location will allow for global distribution.

The company has grown rapidly both at home and overseas, more than trebling its turnover in its first five years. From a turnover of 5 million in 1998, the company is now reaching 18 million, with international business accounting for 65%.

The company, one of the nine divisions of global shipping and oilfield services group - The Craig Group, has transformed itself from an Aberdeen firm supplying companies operating in the North Sea to a truly international player with contracts in Angola, Nigeria, The Congo, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Norway.

CIS provides a comprehensive range of products and services to oilfield operations and projects. From its considerable inventory and an extensive database of Quality Assured suppliers, CIS can supply the entire range of products for all seismic, drilling, exploration and production.
