Kerr-McGee Hits Again in Bohai Bay
Kerr McGee Corp. and its partners have struck oil in a wildcat in the Bohai Bay offshore north China. The well, CFD 12-1S-1 well in Block 05/36, tested at a combined 6,094 barrels of oil equivalent (boe) per day of light oil and gas.
The wildcat, which encountered over 200 feet of hydrocarbon bearing sandstones, was spudded about five kilometers south of the CFD 12-1 field discovered by Kerr McGee in 2000, he said. Kerr McGee holds 50 percent working interest in the 05/36 block and serves as the operator. Newfield Exploration holds 35 percent and Sino-American Energy Corp holds the remaining 15 percent. CNOOC has the option to take up to 51 percent in any commercial discovery.
