World's First Offshore LNG Terminal Ready for Operation

The STL System for the Energy Bridge project was successfully installed in Gulf of Mexico, located 116 miles offshore Louisiana, February 5, 2005. The terminal is owned and operated by Excelerate Energy LLC. The world's first offshore discharge of an LNG carrier is expected to take place mid March 2005.

The LNG vessel using this terminal are standard LNG carriers with onboard re-gasification and STL shipboard equipment.

APL supplied and installed the STL system, consisting of the following main components:

  • STL Buoy with integrated turret and pick-up system

  • Complete mooring legs (anchor/chain/wire)

  • Riser and Umbilical

  • APL have furthermore supplied the following for three vessel to operate the terminal:

  • STL Vessel equipment package

  • STL Swivel
