BP Uses Parker Instrumentation Fittings for Greater Plutonio
BP is standardizing on Parker Instrumentation's A-LOK tube fittings for the construction of the Greater Plutonio FPSO (Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading) vessel that will be used in the Block 18 Angola oil field. The twin-ferrule fittings will be fabricated in 316-grade stainless steel, as well as exotic alloys including 6Mo and Incoloy 625 to combat corrosion.
Parker's global logistics chain was a key factor in securing this large-scale order, as supplies will be needed in Korea where the boat is being built, by numerous equipment suppliers to the project located around the world, as well as locally to the project in Angola for maintenance requirements as the FPSO enters production.
In addition to winning the specification for tube fittings, Parker is supplying a substantial quantity of manifolds including a 7-way type that is being manufactured specially for this application. This novel manifold design is helping BP to provide a highly-integrated interconnection and isolation solution for project instrumentation that saves space, weight and considerable assembly labor.
