BJ Wins Tubular Services Contract from Total

BJ Tubular Services has been awarded a contract to provide services in Indonesia by Total E & P Indonesie. The contract award provides for well services, including casing and tubing running, on Total's assets in Tunu, Tambora and Peciko fields located offshore Balikpapan, Indonesia. The two-year contract requires BJ Tubular Services to run tubulars, particularly CRA tubulars, for four offshore rigs.

BJ Tubular Services will run production tubing of 13% chrome steel. To ensure that the operation is completed safely and efficiently, BJ Tubular Services will use the full Chromemaster™ minimal marking CRA non-ferrous tubular handling package: Chromemaster power tongs, specially modified screen liner running tongs, slips and support table, in addition to the Loadmaster single joint compensator system and the use of environmentally-friendly pipe dope.

Operations have already commenced, with all related services being delivered by BJ Tubular Services dedicated personnel and specialist equipment based at the division's base in Indonesia, and associated support from its global network of bases in Scotland, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai and Louisiana, USA.

Previously, BJ Tubular Services provided casing and tubing running services to Total offshore Balikpapan, Indonesia from 2000 to 2001 on the Tunu North field.

Looking ahead, BJ Tubular Services will also be providing related services for Total in Indonesia, including equipment rental, completion assembly and hammer conductor-driving services, while BJ Services' well services division will provide cementing services.
