Aker Kvaerner Wins More Work at Shell's Pernis Refinery

Aker Kvaerner

Shell Nederland Raffinaderij B.V. has awarded Aker Kvaerner the engineering, procurement and construction management contract for part of Shell's Emissions Reduction 2007 Project at its Pernis Refinery in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. The contract follows on from the front-end engineering work recently carried out by the company. The project is estimated to be worth Euro 5 million in total.

The project involves plot clearance, utilities and tie-ins for a cogeneration plant that will be built on the site. The Pernis facility is the second largest Shell refinery and one of the ten largest in the world. "This project is very important to us," says Wim van der Zande, president of AK Process. "It is for one of our key customers in our home market and further demonstrates we have the ability and resources that make us capable to deliver integrated engineering, procurement and construction management from our local network of offices in Maastricht, Antwerp, Rotterdam and Cologne. This network plays a key role in delivering these services directly to our key clients."

The project, scheduled to be completed by mid-2007, will be executed in the Rotterdam office of AK Process, Aker Kvaerner's core European process business. The project will involve a team of some 30 people, including support from AK Process office in Zoetermeer.
