West African Gas Pipeline Project. Willbros West Africa, Inc. has been awarded an EPC contract for the onshore pipeline and facilities of the 693 kilometer West African Gas Pipeline Project by the West African Pipeline Company Limited, comprised of ChevronTexaco, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Shell, and the Takoradi Power Company Ltd. of Ghana. The project includes the installation of custody transfer metering in Nigeria and a 30-inch natural gas pipeline from the existing Escravos Lagos gas pipeline system, near Itoki, Nigeria, to the initial compressor station at Lagos Beach, and the point of departure for the offshore section. Additional pipelines and regulating and metering facilities for the onshore portions of the project in Benin, Togo, and Ghana are included in the project scope, as well as the engineering, procurement, construction and tie-in of the initial compressor station and land pipeline section. Groundbreaking ceremonies for the project were held at Takoradi, Ghana, on December 3, 2004. Engineering and procurement activities for the onshore portions are expected to commence in January, 2005, with field activities scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2005, and project completion scheduled for fourth quarter 2006.
Bibiyana Gas Field Development Project. Willbros Engineers, Inc., Tulsa, Oklahoma, has been awarded an engineering contract by a unit of UNOCAL. The scope of the four-phase engineering contract includes the engineering, detailed design, follow-on engineering, and start-up and commissioning assistance for a 600 Million standard cubic foot per day gas plant and approximately 85 kilometers of associated pipelines in Bangladesh. The project is already underway.
115 MW Generation Project. Willbros Mt. West, Fruita, Colorado, has been awarded a contract by Wartsila for the civil works associated with a new 115 MW generation plant located near Tracy, Nevada. The scope of work includes the civil power house foundation, exterior foundations, radiator foundations, day tanks and support equipment, and other civil works. When completed in the fourth quarter of 2005, the engine hall will contain 14 Wartsila engine generator sets, associated auxiliary equipment, and a switchgear and control system.
Lean Gas Project. The Oman Construction Company (TOCO), Muscat, Oman, has signed, in December 2004, a letter of intent with Oman LNG L.L.C. for carrying out mechanical, civil, piping, and instrumentation installation including insulation and painting work associated with the Lean Gas Project at the Oman LNG Plant in Sur. The Project is scheduled to start in January 2005, with completion planned for the third quarter of 2005.
Amenan Kpono Phase II Gas Pipeline. Willbros (Nigeria) Limited has been awarded a contract by Stolt Offshore West Africa to install and precommission the onshore portion of the 24-inch Amenan Kpono natural gas pipeline to provide additional feed to the NLNG Plant on Bonny Island. Underway now, the project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2005.
