Chevron Canada Resources is opening a project management drilling office in Halifax in anticipation of approvals to drill a deepwater exploratory well on the Scotian Slope. Chevron, along with joint venture partner Petro-Canada, plans to drill a single exploratory well in the deepwater Mahone Block, located approximately 250 kilometers southeast of Halifax, and approximately 100 kilometers southwest of Sable Island. Chevron is the operator for the project and hopes to commence drilling operation during the summer of 2002.
Chevron's project management drilling office will be located at Suite 1407, Purdy's Wharf, Tower 1. Initial staffing will consist of six full-time employees, including two from Nova Scotia. Additional staff will be added as the project moves through the approval processes and once drilling commences.
