PetroChina Co. Ltd. has made a new oil and gas discovery in northwestern China's Tarim basin. Tested earlier in the week, the Dina 11 Well flowed 444 barrels of crude oil and 116,4000 cubic meters of natural gas a day with 12.8 millimeter choke when drilling reached a measured depth of 6,051 meters. Located in the Kuche trough of the basin, the well is a wildcat. Initial tests show oil and gas presence around the discovery well extends to an area of 50 square kilometers, with probable gas reserves of 50 billion cubic meters.
Dina 11 is 20 kilometers east of PetroChina's earlier discovery well of Dina 2. When tested with a 32.77-millimeter choke in June this year, Dina 2 flowed 2.19 million cubic meters of natural gas a day and 131 cubic meters of condensate/day.
