Flexible pipe manufacturer, Wellstream International, has secured two Gulf of Mexico awards from Mariner Energy for its Swordfish and Pluto II developments. Both contracts will be manufactured at Wellstream's state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Newcastle upon Tyne, U.K. for delivery to the Gulf at the end of 2004. The contracts include:
One 12,000ft 4-inch, 10,000psi production flowline to tie-in the new Pluto II subsea well to an existing Pipeline End Termination (PLET) in 1,000m water depth, and
Two 3,000ft 5.5-inch 6,000psi production risers (one insulated) on the Kerr-McGee Neptune spar in 610m water depth that will tie in the Swordfish subsea well in 1,500m water depth.
Gordon Chapman, CEO Wellstream said of these awards, "These orders were made possible by our competitive pricing, historical relationship with Mariner, and our successful participation in their Black Widow project in 2000. Mariner's Gulf of Mexico strategy is based on developing deepwater fields tied back to existing infrastructure and this offers a broad range of opportunities for our flexible pipe solutions".
