These 10 wells are designed to exploit post-salt Jurassic structures at a depth of less than 1,200m. Structures have been identified through well log analysis and reprocessing of existing seismic data. Drilling of these wells is anticipated to commence in the first quarter of 2005, subject to the receipt of relevant government approvals.
"We will start our exploitation of the Atyrau and Liman-2 blocks by drilling the lower-risk, shallow, post-salt prospects," stated Mr. Matthew Heysel, Chairman & CEO of the Company. "The expected early cash flow will be applied to building a sustainable operation in anticipation of a test of deeper, more prolific pre-salt structures planned for late 2005."
