Owned by Stavanger-based Prosafe, this unit has been used as a flotel in connection with the Troll A precompression project in the North Sea.
Roughly 120 project personnel are now being demobilized. Once this has been completed, Regalia will depart on 26 October to a yard for repairs which should last about a week.
"Sending the rig to land could cause a slight delay," says Atle Grung Eide, who is in charge of the Troll A precompression project.
"Now that this problem has arisen, however, we've opted for the best solution in environmental terms."
The authorities have been notified of the leak, and extra costs for the project are put at NOK 10-15 million.
Compressor capacity on the Troll A gas platform is being raised so that more of the partially-processed wellstream can be piped to the Kollsnes processing plant near Bergen. Gas from Kollsnes is transported to continental Europe through four pipeline systems.
