The exact amount of gas reserves in gas layer of Balal oilfield will be clarified after studying information obtained through an appraisal well.
Director of development project for Balal oilfield told Petroenergy Information Network that early studies indicate that the field contains a gas layer whose exact volume should be determined after reviewing information obtained from the appraisal well.
Farzad Bazargan noted that the National Iranian Oil Company will take charge of developing the field's gas layer within frame of a development project.
Bazargan noted that the National Iranian Offshore Oil Company is working on Balal oilfield adding that Oil Engineering and Development Company will also carry out activities related to repayment of sums to contractors and exchange of documents.
Balal oilfield is located near South Pars gas field in proximity to sea border with Qatar.
Producible oil of the field has been estimated at about 117 million barrels and after water injection into the well as much as 50,000 barrel per day crude will be produced.
The crude coming from the field will be transferred to Lavan Island through a 14-inch pipeline over a 100 km distance to be blended with crude coming from Salman oilfield.
