Jorn Berget has been appointed Executive Vice President, BG Advance. In this role he will be responsible for the continuing development of the Group's strategic technical and commercial capabilities. Jorn, 52, will take up his new position in November, joining from Shell where he was Regional Production Director for North and South America. Prior to this post he was General Manager of Shell's Northern Business Unit, which includes the Brent field of Shell Expro. Jorn has held various positions covering all aspects of Shell's exploration and production business. He has worked in Argentina, the Netherlands, Peru, Oman, Brunei and the UK as well as the US and Norway.
The second new appointment is Peter Hughes who will join BG Group at the end of the year as Executive Vice President, Group Strategy. Responsible for developing BG Group's long-term strategy, Peter, 47, will join from bp. His expertise in the gas industry has been developed in his most recent role as Vice President, Strategy and Portfolio, in bp's Gas, Power and Renewables segment and before that in a range of other international roles. He has also worked for the European Commission in Brussels and for Cambridge Energy Research Associates (CERA) as Senior Director of their European Energy and PanEurAsia Groups.
Both Jorn and Peter will report to BG's Chief Executive Officer Frank Chapman who said, "I am delighted to welcome Jorn and Peter to the Group Executive. They bring a wealth of industry experience and I look forward to working with them in their new roles as we continue to grow and develop our business."
