Nexen Shuts-In Gulf of Mexico Production Due to Storm

Nexen has shut-in approximately 45,000 boe/d of its Gulf of Mexico production, due to deteriorating weather conditions from Hurricane Ivan. Gunnison and West Cameron 170 are still producing, but may also be shut-in depending on Ivan's path. We have also safely secured four drilling rigs working on company- operated exploration and development projects. Personnel and associated contract employees have been evacuated from the affected platforms. We will return to full operations as soon as it is safe to do so.
