Statoil has found more oil in the Siri Field on the Danish continental shelf. Appraisal well 5604/20-7 is now being production tested via the Siri platform. Well SCA-7, as it is called, has produced at a provisional rate of 23,270 barrels of oil per day. When it comes on stream, the well will produce around 10,000 barrels of oil per day. The total production from Siri will thereby increase by about 30 per cent – to around 40,000 barrels of oil per day.
The appraisal well was spudded after oil was proven in another well, Siri-4, in Palaeocene sandstone layers in an area east of the field. SCA-7 was drilled as a horizontal well to a total length of 6898 meters from mean sea level. The licensees in Siri are Statoil as operator with 40 percent, Enterprise Oil with 20 percent, DONG with 20 percent, Phillips with 12.5 percent and Denerco with the remaining 7.5 percent.
