Pertra Granted Extension for Use of Maersk Giant

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has granted its consent to Pertra AS for use of Mærsk Giant to carry out a well workover on well 15/12-A-5 offshore Norway.

In August 2003, Pertra was granted consent to use the Maersk Giant to drill two wells on Varg. The consent was extended in February 2004 to include the drilling of two additional wells.

A new extension to drill an injection will was granted in June 2004.

Pertra has discovered that the downhole valve in well 15/12-A-5 on Varg has failed. The company will use the Mærsk Giant to carry out a workover operation to replace the valve in this well.

The well workover is expected to take two weeks.
