Hydro on behalf of the Ormen Lange license group has awarded Vetco Aibel AS (former ABB Offshore Systems AS) a contract for part of the Ormen Lange gas terminal at Nyhamna in northwest Norway. The contract value is approximately NOK 550 million.

The EPC contract covers engineering, procurement and construction of a jetty for the export of condensate, a VOC installation for recovery of hydrocarbon gases when loading condensate onto tankers, all mechanical installations in the rock cavern for storing condensate, and the construction of roads and infrastructure within the condensate export-area at Nyhamna.

Engineering and procurement will start immediately at Vetco Aibels offices outside Oslo, and the prefabrication work at yards in Kristiansund and Haugesund will start in November 2004 and August 2005 respectively. Construction activities at Nyhamna on the condensate export facilities will start March 2005.

The two large remaining contracts for the onshore facilities and gas terminal at Nyhamna will be awarded during 2004. This includes the MEG regeneration system and the corresponding process facilities and the administration building.

Hydro is operator for Ormen Lange during the development phase, including all field development, the gas processing plant at Nyhamna, as well as the export pipeline project - Langeled.

Ormen Lange is the largest gas field under development on the Norwegian continental shelf. It is located 100 km off the northwest coast of Norway at a water depths of 800 to 1,100 meters. The field comes on stream in October 2007.
