Serious Personal Injury on Ekofisk 2/4J

On Thursday, August 26 a contractor employee suffered a foot injury after being struck by a lifting device weighing about 100 kg, which fell four meters from its fastening. The accident took place on Ekofisk 2/4 J. The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has sent three people to the installation to investigate the incident.

The potential for a more serious outcome was significant. The incident occurred at 1730 hours on August 26th in connection with preparations to lift out valves.

On Friday morning, the PSA went offshore to Ekofisk together with ConocoPhillip's own investigation team. The police have decided not to investigate the incident.
