Perro Negro 3 Drill String Snaps at KG-OSN-2001/3

Gujarat Petroleum was forced to suspend drilling for six days at its KG-OSN-2001/3 exploration block on August 17rh when the Perro Negro 3 met with a minor accident.

PETROWATCH learns the drill string of Perro Negro 3 broke into two pieces while drilling the well KG-1 at 600 meters. Operations resumed on August 23rd. Target depth is 3,400 meters.

"We are sidetracking from the previous well," a GSPC source tells us. "The present well has been cemented." GSPC blames inadequate drilling data from the DGH for its problems. "This is an unknown region and we had anticipated some problems beforehand."

After several delays, GSPC finally began drilling on July 31st on a 'structural closure'. GSPC is operator at KG-OSN-2001/3 with an 80% stake. GeoGlobal Resources and Jubilant Enpro each hold 10%. GSPC is now five days behind its 70-day drilling schedule.
